To replace this I need to dismantle the entire differential. At this point I really wish I could find someone else who wants this car.

Ouch. What am I looking at- is that part of the case?

Aw, man...
Condolences!
I swear half of owning vintage stuff is knowing when to walk away. Do so now. Shut the door. Indulge in mild intoxicant(s). Once relaxed, set a day & time with a clear sched to go back in and unemotionally evaluate the situation. Until then, don’t even >think< about it.
Just walk away.
Now.

It’s the throwout bearing shaft. It’s basically the first part that gets put in when assembling the differential.

Interesting. (Yeah, at first I thought it looked like a pinion bore or axle tube but this Corvair is a different animal from what I’m used to.)
So I must have missed an earlier post- what is it that you’re doing? Was this supposed to be a clutch job or something?

Or you could pay someone to do the repair for you...

That requires money.

Minor technicality.
You can get some money by prostituting yourself, no?
